Adaptive leadership team distributing condoms, Pre-exposure prophylaxis ( PrEP) , OraQuick HIV Self-Test and sharing information on HIV to truck drivers

Adaptive Leadership Zambia working in collaboration with Zambia Center for Communication Programs, Chongwe district hospital and Chongwe Radio station, have continued to raise awareness on HIV and safe behaviour among truck drivers, particularly long-distance truck drivers.

Chongwe Adolescent team lead Kasuba Mwiinga, said the district has on a continuous basis engaged truck drivers through knowledge sharing and distribution of condoms.

Mr. Kasuba says over 700 condoms have been distributed this year, in three interventions conducted in the central business district and to long distance truck drivers.

And Chongwe District Nurse Andrew Mutenekwa, who was among the people distributing condoms, Pre-exposure prophylaxis ( PrEP) and OraQuick HIV Self-Test, said making these health essentials widely available through distribution programs is vital to successful HIV prevention.

Mr. Mutenekwa said the health essentials are free and widely available in health facilities.

Meanwhile, some drivers spoken to, thanked all stakeholders involved for reaching to truckers, saying the intervention is promoting some important HIV-related behavior change.
